"Unveiling the Dark Universe with the Sun"

Most of the content in the Universe is formed of matter that is invisible to light (photons) and to ordinary matter, but can be detected by gravity. Some of this strange matter we call “dark matter” and some we call “dark energy”. In this talk Professor Davis will explain the observations that have led science to believe the majority of the matter in the Universe is ‘dark’. She will then discuss how she and her colleagues are hoping to test their theories of the dark Universe. In particular, she will briefly discuss how the sun can be used to try to unveil the mysterious dark Universe. 

Professor Anne-Christine Davis is the Emerita Professor of Mathematical Physics 1967. She is a theoretical cosmologist who works on dark energy models and how to test them and extract cosmological predications from fundamental physics.
